Each field on the Vinyl pages is described
below: |
|
Title: | The title of the vinyl record. If it has more than one title it may have a second title listed in parentheses preceded by aka. The title is preceded by a prefix LP: if it is a long play record album, 45: if it is a single, EP: if it is an extended play record or DS: if it is a 12 inch single. Titles of singles are usually the title of the 'A' side followed by a "/" followed by the title of the 'B' side. Media Type Prefixes |
Artist: | The artist(s) that the record is accredited to. In the case of records by various artists the Beatle-related artists are listed and the tracks by other artists are omitted in the track listing. |
Type: | 45=single, LP=long play record album, EP=extended play record, DS=12 inch single |
No Disks: | The number of records in the set (e.g. double albums list a 2 in this field). |
Copies: | The number of copies of this record in my collection |
Original Release: | The date the first issuance of this title was released. In some rare cases this is estimated. If so, that is annotated in the Remarks field. |
Country: | US=United States, UK=Great Britain, other countries are spelled out. |
Label: | The label or recording company of the release (e.g. Apple, Capitol, Parlophone, etc.). |
Catalog No: | The catalog number the recording company assigns to the release. This number is usually shown on the spine of the record jacket or in the case of singles it is on the center label. |
Release status: | Official=official release, Bootleg=unofficial release, |
Remarks: | Any additional descriptive information about the record or it's track listing. |
Track Listing | A numbered list of the tracks featured on the record(s) listed in the order they appear on the disk(s). The time of each track is also included. If song has more than one title it may have a second title listed in parentheses preceded by aka. This also applies in the case of alternate spellings (e.g. Give Me Some Truth (aka Gimme Some Truth)). |
Essential Tracks | The same track is often duplicated on more than one CD, video disk or
vinyl release but if it is exactly the same track it is only listed once
on the tracks page which gives only one release to find it on called the
Primary location in my collection (see explanation of that field
here). Although the
track is often duplicated on other releases, this primary location is
for one
reason or another the best quality recording of it. If the record listed
in the title field is the primary location for a track, then it is an essential
track for that record. Therefore, if a track is listed in the Track Listing
field described above, but not listed in the Essential Tracks, then the
same track is listed as essential on another CD, DVD or vinyl record because
all tracks are essential to one and only one CD, DVD or (if not available
digitally)
a vinyl release. An exception to this relationship is tracks that only
contain speech. Those are listed in the Track Listing field described
above but
are not essential tracks because they do not contain music.
