Remarks
New stereo mix by Giles Martin and Sam Okell. This recording began on May 26, 1966 with 5 takes and was completed with sound effects on June 1, 1966. It later appeared again on the Yellow Submarine soundtrack LP in 1969. The guitar comes in right away in the mono mix and 2022 stereo mix but after "in the town" in the original stereo mix. At the start of verse 3, a splash sound effect is faded away quickly in the mono mix as the vocal starts, but continues over "and we live a life" in the stereo mix. John is heard repeating the vocal after the first line of verse 3 ("life of ease") in the mono mix but not until the next line ("all we need") in the stereo mix. This mix is also used on the Yellow Submarine stereo LP and CD in the US & UK.
