CD Definitions
Each field on the CDs pages is described below:
Title: The title of the CD. If the CD has more than one title it may have a second title listed in parentheses preceded by aka. The title is preceded by a prefix CD: if it is a full length CD or CDs: if it is a CD single or EP. More info on Media Type Prefixes
Artist: The artist(s) that the CD is accredited to. In the case of CDs by various artists the Beatle-related artists are listed and the tracks by other artists are omitted in the track listing.
Type: Full=Full length CD, Single=CD single or EP
No Disks: The number of CDs in the set (e.g. double CD sets list a 2 in this field).
Copies: The number of copies of this CD set in my collection
Original Release: The date the first issuance of this title was released. Since CDs were not in widespread use until the mid-late 80's this date will often be the date that the vinyl version of the title was released. For newer recordings the Original Release will be the same as the CD Release. This field is often listed as 00/00/0000 if it is not an official release. In some rare cases this is estimated. If so, that is annotated in the Remarks field.
CD Release: The official release date of the CD. This field is often listed as 00/00/0000 if it is not an official release. In some rare cases this is estimated. If so, that is annotated in the Remarks field.
Label: The label or recording company of the release (e.g. Apple, Capitol, Parlophone, etc.). This will say none on burned CDs or on some bootleg CDs.
Catalog No: The catalog number the recording company assigns to the release. This number is usually shown on the spine of the CD case or in the bar code. This will say none on burned CDs or on some bootleg CDs.
Release status: Official=official release, Bootleg=unofficial release, Burned=CD-R recorded especially for and/or by me.
Remarks: Any additional descriptive information about the cd or it's track listing.
Track Listing A numbered list of the tracks featured on the CD(s) listed in the order they appear on the disk(s). The time of each track is also included. If song has more than one title it may have a second title listed in parentheses preceded by aka. This also applies in the case of alternate spellings (e.g. Give Me Some Truth (aka Gimme Some Truth)). If more than one song appears within the same track on a CD, the track numbers may contain decimals (e.g. if track 13 has 2 separate songs they would be listed separately as track 13.1 and 13.2).
Essential Tracks The same track is often duplicated on more than one CD, video disk or vinyl release but if it is exactly the same track it is only listed once on the tracks page which gives only one release to find it on, called the Primary location in my collection (see explanation of that field here). Although the track is often duplicated on other releases, this primary location is for one reason or another the best quality recording of it. If the CD listed in the title field is the primary location for a track, then it is an essential track for that CD. Therefore, if a track is listed in the Track Listing field described above, but not listed in the Essential Tracks, then the same track is listed as essential on another CD or DVD because all tracks are essential to one and only one CD, DVD or (if not available digitally) a vinyl release. An exception to this relationship is tracks that only contain speech. Those are listed in the Track Listing field described above but are not essential tracks because they do not contain music.

A good example of this relationship: The track Get Back (single edit) only appears once on the Tracks page even though it appears on numerous other releases including the compilation The Beatles 1967-1970. The primary location for it on the tracks page is given as the CD Past Masters Vol. 2. Therefore, on the CDs page, Get Back (single edit) will be an essential track for Past Masters Vol. 2 but will not for The Beatles 1967-1970 where it would only be listed in the Tracks Listing for that CD. Any other releases with that same identical track will list it in the tracks listing but not as an essential track because it is already assigned as essential to Past Masters Vol. 2.
